Our year in Australia would not be complete without a visit to the famous Sydney Opera House. We're leaving it a bit late, but Rachel and I got there on Saturday afternoon for a matinee performance by the Australian Girls' Choir. http://www.ausgirlschoir.com.au/ This is a national choir comprised of about 600 girls aged 5 to 18, performing a variety of pieces in age-level groups. They didn't just stand there and sing, but had lots of interaction with the music (clapping, waving, stomping the feet for the little ones, plus some dancing and props in the older choirs.) At the end, the entire company was on stage for the finale. It was really wonderful, both the performance and just being in the opera house. The complex sits on a peninsula in Sydney Harbour, on the other side of Circular Quay from the Harbour Bridge, so while we were waiting to go in, we could admire the view from the windows overlooking the water. We will try to go again (maybe just the adults this time!) to an opera or symphony, before we finally go home to Canada.http://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/
