There is no frost and there is no snow.
Christmas in Australia's hot
Cold and frosty's what it's not!
Christmas Eve was a bit of a cool rainy day, but Christmas Day was just beautiful. John's sister, Bernadette, came down to celebrate Christmas with us, and we opened our gifts and stockings in the morning before heading out to our neighbour's front lawn for brunch.

All the people on our part of the street gathered and we shared fresh prawns, oysters, and other nice foods plus copious amounts of champagne and home-made beer.

The children had a water balloon fight (with 200 water bombs) and when they ran out, we started using buckets. I say "we" because some of the adults thought that Nic was too dry (he had been quite pleased about the fact that he was still dry...) and that had to be changed! It was not just Nic that was the target of the water buckets, though, some other adults were caught up in the mayhem, too! Things wrapped up around 2 and we headed to the beach.

We had gone down to Lilli Pilli Beach a few times this year for barbecues, and that was our destination for the afternoon. We met some friends there, and had a swim - the water was beautiful.
We did more visiting in the evening, trying to see the people we have known the most in our time here. Before long it was quite late, so we left the house in our shorts and shirts, sat in the car, turned on the air-conditioning, and drove home.

Hi John & Susan. It sounds like you enjoyed an authentic Aussie Christmas. It was a great day weather wise. We were appreciateve especially as we are a little apprehensive of turning up in Toronto tomorrow to the coldest winter in 36 years (or so we've been told!!!!!)
